Yep, spring is "supposed" to come from in front of the arm, not behind it ... I'm not sure what effect that would have on the spring rate ...

Oil filled shocks are designed to use gravity to help move the oil back to resting after use. Putting them on upside down will mess with that process so only do it if it's going to live on the shelf.
