The Ford F150 Ranger XLT is of course based on exactly that car. And as you can see from these pictures, it  quite alike. As far as have found, the design is based on a 1981 model. These pictures, from a Ford sales folder, shows the exact decor as the Tamiya model. Even the rims look the same. Front, grill, lights etc. look ok. Only the side mirrors were left out by Tamiya, and that is just as well.
