The Tamiya model no 58052 is a Porsche 956 Group C racing machine. The model is called 'NewMan' because of one of the sponsor. The other livery is the NewMan / Pierplant livery as shown further down on this page. This Porsche 956 was entered in the Le Mans of 1985 by the Joest Team, and won the event. This is the 'Newman' theme as done by Tamiya on the Box Art. The NewMan Porsche is a 956 and was driven by Klaus Ludwig (D), Paolo Barilla (I) and John Winter. Last two pictures show the 'Pierplant' livery, that Tamiya used on the optional 956 decals. The livery is from the 1984 24 Heures du Mans winner. The car was driven by Henri Pescarolo (F) and Klaus Ludwig (D). Some claim that the Joest Team was successful in 1984 Le Mans because the factory team of Porsche did not start the race this year.
