Lipo battery on hotshot 2 4 years 9 months ago #55508

Hi I've got a lipo battery with a tamiya convertor plug on it, i was thinking about trying it on my hotshot 2 but wanted to check if it'll explode or anything before I try it.
I know nothing about lipo batteries except they can be dangerous.
I have a standard 540 motor & a tble02 in it.

Cheers.

That's a 3-cell (11.1V) battery. Your TBLE-02s controller won't handle the voltage. You'll fry it. You can certainly use a LiPo in your Hotshot, but it needs to be a 2-cell (7.4V).

If you do decide to use a 2s LiPo in your Hotshot, you'll still need to add a low voltage detector. The TBLE-02s is programmed to use Tamiya's LiFe batteries which cut out at a lower voltage. If you put in a LiPo and run it down until the ESC cuts off, the battery will be destroyed. A low voltage detector just costs a couple of dollars and plugs into the balancing port. It will make a sound when it is time to charge the battery.

Thanks for that info, very helpful.
I just had this lipo knocking about with nothing to do with it, i think I'll just stick to the nimh batteries.
Cheers.

For a hs2 keep a nimh and a not too violent motor.
