Thanks Stingray, I will add a note that the grey SR may be a mk.ii version :)

Nice work Jonny. It takes a good chunk of effort to do this.
I have my dads M series 2 stick controller from the late 70’s early 80’s.
If I can find it, I’ll post some pics.
The servos and receiver will be in one of his RC boats, now in my garage after he passed away.
My dad always said Futaba was better than Acoms, so the set I bought in the mid 80’s was a Futaba, which I still have and it still works.
Some of those later sets are so ugly !!!

Great thread and total respect.

I got my Attack II sometime in '95, would've been later in the year.  The Rx was a FP-R122JE, and 3001 servos.
Still have the manual too.

Can get some better pics.

Thanks - at first I was confused by your date of late 1995, I'd assumed (because of the IMO crappy design) that the Attack II was probably the last iteration, at least for the period I'm interested in.

The servos and RX would seem to indicate that the Attack II is actually a precursor to the 2DR, and the "front loader" TX - and the innards, which I'm seeing for the first time thanks to your photo - make it very likely that it's 1 generation either before or after the 2DR.

Looking at the Attack II Tx (outside) design, in hindsight it really does fit after the Attack SR. Futuba's design ethos has gone through square, slightly less square, curvy (SR), peak bulbous (Attack II), back to square with a high of OG Cylon (2DR), increasingly Cylon (2ER) :D

Looks like I have to move a few things :) :y:

Pics for M series TX & RX - the missing link between the FP-2TF steerwheel model and the plastic "Medallion" mk.1 model :)

Thought I was going nuts there for a while - of course there had to be an "Attack" model for there to be all the Attack R, Sport, etc models later ...

More research shows that the Attack, Attack R and Attack BFR (which I'd never seen before) were all released at the same time, "R" just has servo reverse switches, "BFR" has a built-in failsafe and servo reverse :)

There was also an Attack Gold.  Until recently, I had one with my 959.
