Thanks Lars. I understand the motors are some sort of mini-trophy of a complete car, because you aren't collecting complete cars anymore you are forced to settle with the 'heart', the motor. Is that right?

And is there much difference between motors? I mean like qualitywise some have ball bearings, some have only brass bushings, some have replacable brushes, various turns on its windings ... ?

I don't relate the motors to the cars when collecting them, it's more like it's own thing. They are interesting in themselves, with different constructions, performance and not least the technical development (for Tamiya) from 1976 to 2000-something.
Have a look at the Motor DataBase where you can study the smaller details of the motors, which, to me, makes them interesting.
