I love Associated buggies, but building them with a mixture of metric and imperial sized hardware is always confusing. I wish they would stick with one or the other. The RC industry is almost standardized on metric (even American companies like Traxxas), but not Team Associated.

Reminds of my time as car mechanic working on Volvos from their transition period. Metric and imperial all together. You really had to examine every f****** screw.

That's one of the reason I have yet to buy a AE car.
I just don't like imperial stuff, period. Capri is a mess when it comes to bolts as it was produced both in UK and Germany. Some bolts are imperial with metric heads and visa versa, and the 3 litre is all imperial as that was an UK made engine. Some places you can get away using metric tools as 3/4" for example is close to 19mm. Having worked on lot of these cars, I usually don't think any more of it as I tend to grab the right spanner/socket for the job. But finding a right bolt for example front leaf spring eye unless going to a spare part holder or Capri breaker is impossible as it has shank, imperial botl size and metric head. Luckly there is a few companies out there who make new bolts now and then. Some are the same as Escort Mk1 Mk2. Worse if a real car has both imperial, metric and old english bolts, yes there is infact something that is not metric nor imperial. I recently heard of such car that had all 3 types of bolts, just can't remember what. Probably a MG or something like that. Only non metric, small stuff I own is a few allen keys, one of them for imperial set screw on pinions.

Volvo definitely was one of them, Saab i am not sure. I have only worked on 60ies Saab96s and Saabs from 1980 and later.
Luckily my PV544 was all imperial. But it was pretty expensive to get a toolset for the car. With such mix of units you are basically at th saem situation like our german army with their clothes sizes. There are 3 sizes available, "too small", "too big" and last but not least "doesnt fit"

I had the chance to find some imperial/us sized keys and tools. One of my friend gave me some tools and I found other ones in militaria reunions. (WW2 wyllis jeep tools).

I guess I am lucky, both my Silverado and my GT can be almost completely disassembled with 2 or 3 hand tools. 😅
