Aha! 0.7 is the pitch, not the wall diameter. That may open some possibilities! Altough I am thinking about more radical dremeling and putting on the original GPM steering mounts : Screwed down from beneath the chassis... |

After some brainstorming and impatience (not having 2K glue, thinner or helicoils in stock) I went for the low tech approach.
Filling up the holes with CA glue, put in a used king pin and make sure it's straight, let dry and take out the screw... Seems to be a temporary solution that works quite well. I'll update later with something prettier though. |

Thanks, I'm quite happy with the end result. Feels solid. But most of all - slop free!
Only wiggle room that's left comes from the servo itself... Just gotta score a nice blue servo horn some time to top it off. One more tech detail - the right steering arm (left for the viewer) barely has any clearance on top. It's moving smoothly now but I've assembled it a bit too high in the past, as can bee seen by the slight scuff marks : That is why the ball ends cannot stick out and I put on some blue spacers : Looks like it was meant to be like that. One more update coming - the fitting of the undercowl... |
