Hi all and a belated happy new year.

I need some advice as for once I find myself out of my area of expertise in thiz hobby....so I need the help of any tank experts on here.

I'm currently looking at a vintage new-in-box leopard a4 and have no idea what I should pay for it. Does anyone know their value? I will likely build it and not display it so I'm not buying it for investment purposes so to speak.

Your help will be appreciated

Adrian

:) a new released costs 750€ or more full options. A vintage is more expensive.... The build is a real trip and pleasure

This particular one is empty with the exception of the rear gearbox and motor assembly. Aren't the newer ones multi-channeled and better equipped though with smoke, noise, etc?

Hi Adrian,

Don't know what's it like in North America but in europe these kits can be picked up for a lot less than a newer kit with the more advanced electronics.
For one reason or the other this model never took off in europe, and there were a lot of people who bought them in the spur of the moment and later found out it was a bit to complex for them.
These kits require some modelling skills to get it looking realistic, a bit more than the average RC car, and the first RC tank models had weaker tracks also.

I've made a few, the last one with the Oerlikon turret:

It's a good kit, all it needs is time.

Nice find however, have fun building it! Cheers Rick

Hi,
yesterday could check out a collection of a far neighbour. On very interessting item for sale is an old 56002 Leopard. As fas as I could see from outside it is perfectly built and in perfect condition. Stored for years I an wooden box.

He is willing to sale it, but cannot make any proposal. So now it is up to me, but I could not find any sales if the past. Any hint what a reasonable price would be because I do not want to cheat him, he is a very nice old guy.

Unfortunatley I could not open the tank and/drive it. But based from outside I would assume that it is also good from technical side.
