Finally had an epiphany on how to mount my duck on a mf01x chassis without sticks protruding from its beak.

So after spending most of Sunday polishing metal and nowhere near finished.
I decided to put together my Toyota Hilux as it stands.
a. To see what bits I’m missing.
b. See what bits aren’t any good.
c. Work out what fixings I need to order.
d. It was a good excuse to build it.

The gear box got rebuilt properly and missing bits made or improvised. The spring in a ball point pen worked wonders.

I’ve still got the radio box to put together.
I was thinking of using an 80’s Demon electronic speed control to keep it period.
At least until I get an original speed controller.

In my big haul of bits I’ve acquired I’ve got a lexan windscreen. So I will see if it will fit. A bit of a risk, but then I could put the interior in to really finish it off.

Finished the 58102 Mazda today.
Some nos parts added, chassis the most noticeable, and I've done nothing to the body except some cleaning.

Hi, I’ve actually had that from about 1982 / 83.
Basically when the Hilux came out someone used the original shell added the cab and produced a small quantity.
It was featured in one of the model car magazines of the day.
I bought it from a brilliant model shop in Windsor.
It went on a Ford Ranger chassis at the time, but I have always wanted to put it on the correct chassis. Now after all this time it’s getting close.
Thanks for the interest in this.

Apologies I replied, but stupidly not in this thread.
See further down.
I’m surprised I haven’t seen one on the site. I guess only available in the UK and a small run ?
