Two days two Sand Rovers. Well they will be in the end.
I’ve gone for both variants one with the original 380 motor and the other “ hopped up “, 540 motor courtesy of the optional motor bracket provided back in the day.
These have the other possible hop up on these, ball bearings throughout.
The one at the back is pretty much immaculate complete with Acoms radio gear.
The front one needs the speed controller re-wired with the correct yellow and green motor wires.
The radio gear is Futaba also roughly from the right time.

I actually couldn’t bring myself to open the NIP rear wheels and tyres. But I probably will !!!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Al

I never saw a brocken kc chassis. And I had 4 of these. 2 had the trans exploded. I kept the 2 other for the collection. King cab and hilux monster racer.
Keep it like a trophée and open it when you'll need it ;)

Very true and one of the best platforms they ever came up with. I have a shelf queen and a runner and I can't imagine what it would take to break the chassis.

I am going to do just that! Up it goes on the ol wall o spares! :y:

I never ran my kc or hilux mr. But the base is the sale as the madcap. My first kit I built. And a lovely 2wd with a lead weight on the front train. I love it

I love the madcap and never know til recently that it had the same gearbox etc as the KC platform. Madcaps now are a bit beyond my reach. I heard someone back in the 80's made a better diff for them?? The Brat was my first with the 380 and I got a KC in 89 when they came out and that thing was a screamer right out of the box til you tried to upgrade the motor. LOL
