While do some more work on the TL01 Escort project, I storage charged all my Lipo batteries today.
Some had no loss of storage charging since last time (last summer), some just needed just a little to top them up. It's very important to have your lipo batteries in storage mode while not in use - it's the batteries safe spot if you will. I also charged one of the nimh batteries I got with my TL01 project, it actually was almost full even been stored for a long period. Batteries are 5000mAh 2s square pack, 4000mAh 2s to fit Tamiya vehicles. 2200mAh 2s, 2x2200mAh 3s and 1300mAh. The last four mentioned is for my Axial SCX10. Most of these are Gens Ace. While charging I'm using a lipo bag, but when it comes to store them, I use this modified cake box. Remember to vent the sides of the case or else you are making a bomb basicly. In the last decade I have used lipo batteries, I had no fire, not in a vehicle or at home. Had some that got puffed, and they was delivered to my recycle centre or my LHS. I always charge them at 1C, aka 3A for 3000mAh, 5A for 5000mAh batteries etc, always charge in balance mode, always use a lipo bag, and always use the storage mode before they are put away. I never charge them unless I need to use them shortly after and never keep a fully charged battery in storage as it's not safe and the battery will breaking down as it sits fully charged and if the cells gets uneven and under 3v pr cell, they can actually blow up and you will have a major problem. As long as you follow the safety rules, you will most unlikely have a uneventful history with these batteries. Nimh on the orher hand can be stored fully charged with no major drawback. Nimh has no memory like the old nicad batteries. I use Imax B6 Ultimate charger. There is many rip offs of the Imax chargers, make sure you get a genuine one!

Yesterday's arrival:
The DT03 is for my daughter, and she pressured me as soon as she saw the kit on the table to mount it. It's not yet finished, and I won't start the Turbo Scorpion until we have finished my daughter's ride. Started at 6pm yesterday. at 7:15pm I received orders to stop my work as we needed to use the table for dinner. DT-03 status : remains dampers to be mounted and fitted, and body shell to be trimed and painted... My daugther cut all the parts from the cluster, I cleaned and mounted. It's fast, specially when it is not the first time you mount a kit. Long story short, chassis should be ready in the evenning (could have done this yesterday, but my daughter wanted to participate, so I have to wait). Paint is planed on saturday, as I still need to source a few cans of white, pink and fluorescent pink... I buy kits to built and ru(i)n them

Today, it is a bit of work on the Turbo Scorpion that was waiting for me (please pardon me, it's not a Tamiya kit but I've used my Tamiya drivers :-D)...
During the week, I already mounted the rear suspension. Today I started with the front suspension. Then I put the tub and the steering servo in Then wing, wheels and motor found their position Next step was roll cage, light buckets, and body positionning (specifically looked at placing holes to feed the leds)... That is on good path... Next steps will be. ESC mounting and wiring, then I'll need to find position for red leds on the rear side (this thing definitely needs red leds and perhaps some brake lights), and then I'll move to the painting (this is likely to take me a bit of time due to the masking reuired and the number of colors I intend to deal with (White, Blue and Fluo orange for the body, black for the cocpit, and white and red for the pilot body - not sure what color I put yet on the helmet, but I really want a realistic pilot, although there will be a black visor which prevent to see the work done behind :-D - I'm a little bit cautious with stickers - sometime one goes, and it should be still looking good when it goes - all of this will be done with Tamiya paints)... That's it for today folks :-D I buy kits to built and ru(i)n them
