Help with identifying this 6 years 4 months ago #46535

Can anyone help with identifying this please? Also, what is the motor that’s attached to it? I used to love tamiya kits and want to build one with my son so I’m hoping to sell my old one to pay for a new kit. Is this thing worth much? Just charged it up and tried it out and it’s still a rocket!

Welcome on board. You have here a nice tamiya ta02 with a known escort mk1 aftermarket body. Your motor is a ansman 21turn slash. And rally block tires. Nice car buddy

That's a very nice chassis and tamiya released it. So, at your place, I'll keep it and would buy another to build with your son and you could drive twins. TA02 is not a competition chassis but it is heavy duty and easy to built for a child. (Be carefull with the ball diff). And you can easily upgrade it without spending too much money.

Think I upgraded it pretty extensively when I had it. When I put the new motor in it stripped the plastic teeth off the gears so I had to put metal gears in, metal bearings, electric speed controller etc... tbh, i was going to get the boy something and then get myself a nice vintage Hotshot! I loved those.

Nice! But wich metal gears did you put?
Plastic ones are better and with a steal motor pinion, in the good position.

Can’t remember now, but there’s a packet for an aluminium motor mount in the bag, so it’s defo got that on.

Well, it’s gone on eBay after a little tidy up! I’d be grateful if someone could run their eye over it and tell me if I could improve the listing... also, I’m thinking a frog next. Thoughts? I want a fast tough off roader!
