Thanks for the cleaning and battery tips stingray-63. I'll give that a whirl tonight if I get a chance.
Any brands to look for in particular for battery and charger? Hopefully the other motor has brushes inside. Its missing one of the wires to give it power. |

I have a imax b6 charger. It is a easy to use charger and multi battery type. Lead to life batteries. And for your sticks take a look on the bay. Some are cheap.

Man those cars look sweet Yeah that brush terminal needs a good clean up No soldering iron to fit a new wire yourself? You could pick up a cheap kit from Bunnings that would to the trick
www.bunnings.co..._p05910275 and don't forget some solder www.bunnings.co..._p05910271 If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

Hooray!! One Technigold is fixed and happily revving. Well, not in the car, but we plugged it in to a battery and it kicked into life
The RC specialist I visited who's been into them for the past 25 years or so said its definitely worth just buying another motor that'll do the same as a Technigold and put it to the side. Kind of makes sense after seeing how hard it is to find the parts for them. The other one I'm just going to leave without bushes for now. If anyone has some for a reasonable price I'd be keen though! In other news, I'm glad I didnt have it stored away for all those years with the rubber boot over the speed controller. I had 2 in the bag of Boomerang spares and its turned into a blob of sticky goop!! |

Nice new.
The rubber baloons are always gluing after some time. But easily removable in your case. |

WOW,
I can believe how nice the body on that Celica still is, considering it was driven back in the day. Most of them seem to be fairly smashed up as they were fairly over powered with the technigold and, well you know, we tended to hit things like curbs and posts......or maybe that was just me Perhaps the stock motor saved it from more serious damage. There is a decent replacement shell available ( team blue groove ) but it lacks some detail in the rear bumper area for moulding purposes, really good for a runner though. The decals from MCI racing are good too. I second the B6 charger option, there are many on the market and the price is good too. I run a Ni-Mh pack in my older stuff works better then the old Ni-Cad, more run time and it fits where the new "block style" Li-Po packs do not. Glad you found the site, and good to know you are sharing this with your 3 year old, Take them out and enjoy them.... From somewhere out in the wilds of central Ontario.
.......you build what you like, I will build what I like........it's all cool...... |
