Motor plate (carton board?) added from Tamiya? Why? 4 years 3 months ago #57942

Hi fellow RC enthusiast,
I am currently restoring my old Fox, after having built a rere Novafox.

When and why did Tamiya add that carton motor plate between the motor and the gear box? Is it really necessary, what could be the purpose?

See pics of old manual page and rere manual page.

Cheers

Thermal seal between motor and plastic gearbox, prevents plastic getting to hot and also keeps some dirt out.

And of course, having created a "need" for the basic one, you can go on and sell a bloo aluminium "upgrade" ;)
