Morning guys. Well my last topic was in the gears in the new diff that didn’t coincide. I believe there are some slightly different tolerances in the diff case with respect to vintage. I don’t know, beats me. I took it apart and put back together and no better result.
The only thing I noticed is that with all the screws still not totally tightened it works. But as soon as you tighten them as they should be. The diff crackles. Ugly noise!
So Lars was kind enough to hook me up with one of his contacts to find a vintage diff case but unfortunately I had no luck.
So, I repaired the old one with bi component glue (I think that’s how you say it in English)
Any here are some pictures, and today I’ll fit it in and keep you guys posted.
Thanks everyone.
Happy Sunday Funday !

Matt

Hello again. Well oddly enough, as soon as I fitted the old repaired front diff case. It seems to all work fine. Teaches me about re-re parts.

I have read somewhere that the recess for the bearing in the re-re gearbox is deeper than the original, causing diffs to have too much play. But, I may be mixing up things...

Lars, I did not measure with a caliber those distances. But yes, there is something offset between vintage and re-re parts. Of all sorts I immagine. Questions of microns only.
I’ve been working on these cars for 30 years and I think I can trouble shoot. So it’s not me. It was the casing.
What dubs me out is the grears and bevels and all?
Is it possible that because of few microns or one mm we have to change all parts to new ones? I’m not sure I’m making myself clear, but the new re re diff case with original gearings(in perfect condition) does not go. At least my way

Something has changed, and i guess it would work better with re-re diff as well.
I'm sure someone here will know how to fix it.

Maybe washers between gear box and bearings to press the diff correctly with the diff outer.

I think as Lars said, it’s in the casings where the bearings go for the shafts. Because the problem is in the slip diff only

Cheers
