The first Gran Turismo was the only proper car racing game I ever really enjoyed, my bro & I used to spend days on it. Despite the graphics being poor in comparison with today's stuff, I thought it was quite realistic. The sequel(s) were pants in my opinion. I get far more enjoyment out of angry zombie slaughter games, the scarier the better!
Reminds me, there was an earthquake in the UK a few years ago, the epicentre was in Lincolnshire, a few miles from my brothers house. He was playing Doom, in the dark, on his own at the time...

When I can prise the kids off the xbox, I enjoy Forza Motorsport 3. I'm not a big fan of round-in-circles racing, but getting the drifting "just right" is very satisfying.

What I want is a decent rally sim with proper sideways driving with countersteering and classic rally cars (Escorts, Chevette HS, TR8, Fiat 131 Mirafiori etc). The current ones are too "arcadey" for me.

I've obsessively played a lot of games in the past - Hungry Horace on the Spectrum, International Karate + on the C64, Turrican & F1GP on the Amiga, Mario Kart & F Zero on the SNES, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Vib Ribbon & Soulblade on the PS1, Quake & Quake II on the PC ... then completely lost interest with the move to online games. I still dust off Star Wars Battlefront II when I feel the urge to shoot things/blow them up... but I still find my natural point of aim fails to get me bonus points

My interest in video games started when Nintendo released the good old GameBoy. Although I hate Tetris. ;)

I've stayed faithful to Nintendo until I got my hands on the Xbox 360. At the moment I'm playing Forza Motorsport 4 (SO GREAT :woohoo: ), Forza Horizon, Grand Theft Auto IV and numerous 3D beat'em ups (Soul Calibur 5, DOA 5, Tekken 6) - but the fun of a 2D Worms2:Armageddon multiplayer match or playing Super Mario Bros. 1 can't be beaten, at least in my opinion.

If anybody wants to join any of the above mentioned games, my Xbox Gamertag is FlyingBock. :)
Runner: Sand Viper , Mad Bull , BMW Z4 Hatsune Miku , Kyosho Sandmaster EZ
Project: Hot Shot, Holiday Buggy 2010 (narrowed), Monster Beetle, Super Fighter G, MINI Cooper S 2006
Retired: The Hornet
Still NIB: King Blackfoot

Jonny, you remind me of Butters at P.F. Chang's. :silly:

My own first video game was Donkey Kong on the initial handheld Nintendo btw...

Simpler days (must've been 1980-1981) - a single repeating screen. Played it for hours on end though...

My favourite "game & watch" was Mario Bros ... I'm pretty sure they were all re-released a while back ...

That was a picture off the web...
I must have it somewhere but I'm not sure if it survived the '98 flooding.
Checked eBay a while back and it looked like they were worth about 100 bucks NIP.
That wouldn't make me sell it, working or not...

:)

Remember playing Pong (Atari?) which was actually the first video game ever I think.
And all the quarters my mum gave me to play Pac-Man probably paid for the one they had at the bowling alley...

Yeah we had a black-n-white pong type game, can't remember who it was made by though. My dad came back with it one night, boxed up with a bunch of Hi-Fi & guitar stuff, so I'm guessing it was to butter us up to ignore the unaffordable expenditure on "his" toys! There was tennis, football (4-bat tennis...), squash & a couple of shooting games with a light gun.
Used to spend hours on Asteroids on the Atari, that & Space Invaders or Galaxian.

Couldn't get on with Forza (1,2?), I need the throttle on the left & there's no way to swap it. Didn't think much to it in comparison with GT anyway.
Drift/rally in GT2 was ok, as long as you could ignore the unrealistic racing (Like having your Challenger being thrashed by Minis & the like...). I used to love the Chicago street racing with US muscle cars! The licence run in the GT40 was awesome.
My bro used to swear by Colin Mcrae Rally
