A more recent issue is that a page appears to load completely, then reloads after a short time (30 seconds?). Visibly, everthing is there but the icon keeps on spinning ...

I don't see anything like this on my PC, phones or iPads.
Anyone else seeing this?

I would suggest cache cleaning in such cases, but I assume you have already.

Can you get a screenshot of the problems when they are visible?

It works fine for me on latest Firefox (56.0.2), Jonny.
Page speeds are ok, also using page speed measuring site.
Are you using any ad-blocking software? If so, try disabling and see if that helps on the never ending loading pages.
