Forum ranks ... a bit dull? 12 years 7 months ago #2322

re the forum ranks as described at www.tamiyabase....&Itemid=78 ... they seem a bit dull ... can we have some more fun ones? Like "Surf", "Body", "Skate", "Boogie", "Snow", "Wake", etc, etc? :silly:

I am open to suggestions, :) but keep in mind that we are not all English native speaking, so slang may not work well.
I would love if someone could suggest Tamiya related rank descriptions.

How about changing the term "boarder" to "member" maybe?
Still thinking about an alternative word and terms for the ranking...

Also (if this is not the case yet) the members that have donated could get the rank of "supporter" :

And skip a few ranks on the list... ;)

Or maybe another brainstormed idea 'cause I'm just having a loose throw at it.

I'm having a hard time myself to bubble up any good ideas... :S
Thought about some cool Japanese terms but that's not really international.

Maybe we could leave out the metallic references and add some new terms like "legendary" after "superior" for example...

Would very much like to hear your opinion! :)

If this were a gaming or martial arts forum it would be a lot easier.

Hi All
Well on this subject I feel, maybe a bit different than most. Rank as a member does not mean a lot to me because being just a member is a privilege and recognition enough amongst people with the same hobby interest as myself. I only recently became a member/border and already made some friends, sheared information, learned new things about the hobby and even met a fellow member that lives around the corner from me. With that said, fresh/new/crisp/green or platinum I don't mind as long as I can be a member!!!
Thanks to the two guys making this all happen.
Marius

All the credit naturally goes to Lars, the creator of this whole complexity. ;)
Good to hear about your positive experience here. :)

I'm actually quite fine with the forum ranks like they are but a bit of a brainstorm couldn't hurt.
Hope to see more of the same quality posts and info that's been placed so far rather than a "race" for forum rank myself.
Still, any good ideas are much appreciated of course.

All for changing from boarder to member as you suggested, see the following descriptions.

Looking at your links, it seems indeed to be a more suitable description. :)
I was also thinking about the term "user" but that doesn't sound right somehow.

I agree with Marius there. Although ranking up is cool, to me just being able to give some advice, and get help from the community is awesome enough. After all, we are all one big family of Tamiya fanatics to belong to a site devoted to Tamiya. And we can all learn from each other.

I very much agree and think that hits the core of the matter really well. :)
