Tamiya Grand Hauler with MFC-01 Build 5 years 8 months ago #50878

Day one, UPS dropped off one large and one small box. I've never seen a Tamiya branded shipping box so it's a good one save and store things in.

I was on my way to work when the kit was delivered so I took a couple quick pictures and brought everything with me.

I pawed through the boxes when I got to work.

To be continued.......

Day two,

Screw bag A;

First thing, binding a receiver, centering two servos and on my hacked GT3B programming channel 3 trim rocker for shifting.
Step one is building up the steering and shifting service savers.

Step 2, attaching servos to service mounts. It's best to leave the servos a little loose till their mounted on the frame rails.

Step 3, prepping cross members.

Step 4, attaching cross members, servos and rear suspension mounting plates.

Step 5, installing rear axle bump stops. The instructions want them painted black but I'm leaving them chrome.

Step 6, front suspension mounts.

Step 7, building shocks. They don't actually do anything but they look good.

Step 8, mounting front shocks and soring shackles.

That's the end of screw bag A. Stay tuned for screw bag B.

Oh man, this build thread is going to be good. Already bringing back memories of my King Hauler.

How did you manage to use the Hitec servos? I thought they had a 24 tooth spline. I've run into this problem a couple of times with Hitec.

I was wondering who would pick up on them. Their just place holders while I'm waiting for some Futaba S3003 servos to be delivered.

Shocks are more realistic than on the king hauler and ford aeromax. And trailers to.
