It's like a jean limited edition.

I had to look that up - but yes, sort of :D

Are there headlights for the beetle you can fit with LEDs? The classic 70ies orange looks really nice.

The lenses are moulded (and chromed) of a piece with the surrounds, but I'm thinking it would be possible to dremel the "lens" out, make/print some sort of bucket & fit a clear lens.

The back end would be a question of masking the "lens" part of the vacform + making your own holder.

Jonny you didn't have sticking problems with the beetle decals? I used 2 stickers set on my beetle the rallye one and the classic ones, and they don't stick well.

Only slightly more than usual - the rear light surround outside pieces are repeatedly unpeeling so will need some remedial work with a hairdryer and some permanent supervision from some tiny strips of outdoor/heavy duty clear tape.

Otherwise, they're sticking ok - but I now make a point of cleaning the body - and my fingertips - with lens cleaning wipes before starting :)

I did have problems positioning the window surrounds and "chrome" detail strips though - the edges on the body are all a bit more blobby and imprecise than I've got used to on more recent Lexan Tamiya bodies - I think this one dates from 1996 and the M-02L?

Yes the body is from the m02L. But strangely same after cleaning the body and my fingers with 90°alcohol I had real matters with stickers. Same with the escort some don't stick very well .
the jean beetle was available in orange to . And a third color to in my mind but unsure.

I bet with surgery Monster Beetle hadlights and tail lights might fit with some modding.
That's my plan with my slammed Beetle anyway.

Kyosho trim line tape will do wonder on a Beetle I reckon.
From factory there is a black rubber gasket between wings and body on beetles.
As seen on this one.

Tamiya beetle is btw a 67' 1500' in case someone is wondering.
First one with stand up headlights and pre 68 taillights. (All other engines had laid back headlights)
And it has US bumpers.
In UK and Norway the 67' 1500 had the C channel chrome bumpers with black inlay as per 68-72 beetles.(as picture above)
