Yeh I've filed the tips on my screwdrivers. It's not a perfect match for JIS, but helps. I just find the silver screws are softer material than the black, almost like aluminium vs mild steel. Went looking for some TL01 suspension arms. As they are now 'old stock' the best I could find was going to cost me $50

So I've decided to go the cheaper route, and ordered a set of 15mm hub extensions.
Which means, I will now after all have to extend the chassis as the rear tyres will hit the body. Thankfully I was thinking ahead (I will admit more unintentionally than intentionally), and have mounted the body so the front wheels line up correctly. Which means I'll only need a second set of holes in the rear window. Depending how far the mounts move, I may even get away with swapping the 'L' shaped posts for straight posts.

The hub extensions arrived couple weeks ago, and finally got around to fitting them. Rear is fairly much spot on for width. Fronts could be a bit wider, so I may get some 20 or 25mm, or rims with a different offset.
Now I just need to extend the chassis. I had some left over sheet metal from an old computer case, but looks like it may have got chucked in my last clean out. Will need to see what else I have. Attachments: |
