Did this a little while back for a mate - he wanted a Sand Rover as it was one of the buggies he lusted after as a kid. As is often the way with childhood dreams realised, he wasn't too keen on the front arms or the rear of the original, and really wanted it to be more authentic looking. I suggested trying a SRB chassis under the Sand Rover body (not having ever done one, but had seen a couple of Sand Rover tubs grafted onto SRB front and rear ends so figured it was possible) and he was all for it.
Me being me, I decided the body was horrible with the front wings that sit higher than the rears, so I asked him to trust me to chop up the brand new body and really go to town on it.
The whole build ended up being a complete learning experience, as once I'd fixed one problem, another appeared, so it is a lot more custom than I originally expected it to be.
As a brief rundown, it has a shortened SRB chassis, custom front bull bar, modified steering set up, custom longitudinal battery mount, custom radio box and lid, custom body mounts, custom rear shock towers and cross member, modified rear cage with 3D printed motor fitted, custom body with all holes filled and front wings chopped off, rotated around to lower them, then reattached, nose cone shortened and tucked in, rear panel cut to fit motor and back seat area filled, custom headlights, modified rear lights, custom made roll cage, custom dash details and then everything smoothed and filled, painted matt black gear cases and front uprights, chassis and radio box along with the underneath of the body, body painted black then top coated with metallic lime green and finished with clear coats.
