Hi all, I decided to use the recently released TT-02 FORD Escort kit as the basis for a Repsol rally Escort build.
It is my first TT-02 chassis build, and didn't realise the TT-02 was so loosee goosee. I understand now the feed back people give about this chassis. Anyway, it is a simple build. I did add things like SS button head hex hardware where possible and a few hop-ups - the hop-ups ARE essential to a build of this chassis. I do understand that it is a entry level chassis, but even then it is somewhat lacking. Attachments: |

As I mentioned before I'm building this a replica (sort of) of the Tamiya Repsol rally . Those Escort Cosworhth WRC cars are among my favourites from Tamiya , and I'm going to try to build them all.
It was very hot today - 40 celsius , which is about 104 F , so amazing weather for painting the Escort body. This is my first attempt at tri-colour paint job, and I don't think I'll jump into another one very soon .. LOL Here is the body ready to go into the furnace spay booth ... aka out doors. The finished paint job - certainly not the best but I'm happy with my first attempt at a slightly complicated paint scheme. The colours uses are PS 34 bright red / PS 24 Fluro Orange and PS 1 White. The blue will come from the sticker sheet, so no need to burden my pea brain even further by painting another colour .

Great job!
I've always loved the Escort Cosworths...reminds me of my youth ha ha. Back then I owned an Escort and the Sierra Cosworth and every day I regret selling them! Anyway, great paint job! Proud owner of the Bruiser Family

Great choice of motif. The Cosworth Repsol always was my fav paintjob on any rally and in any videogame. It started with Sega's Rally 2 game in 1997, I got the Australian version game board that had the "old" Repsol paint on the Ford, as well as the older motif on the Corolla and Lancer. A year later in 1998 SEGA made a ROM-update, I think making the game a 'twin' for direct competition, changing the Ford to "Ford" motif, which wasn't as good looking I thought.
Here's a youtube clip of the initial release of Sega Rally 2 DX, but I noticed that the Ford, though it has the Repsol paintjob, doesn't have that proprietary wing, seems here more of a generic smaller wing ![]() ... and I also notice that the motif coloring isn't accurate, with the orange being both at the upper part of the body as well as the lower part, where it is supposed to be red. I didn't notice that ... 26 years ago. Wow, time really flies! |
