Williams FW11 resto 11 years 8 months ago #10684

I bought this on eBay last week, I'm hoping it'll just need a quick tickle up (recreating a few decals) rather than a full blown restoration :)

I don't get on very well with RWD cars at all, let alone a lightweight racer like this, so I'm already thinking a heading lock heli gyro will be a must if I have aspirations of ever driving it...

Well, it's arrived ... and it's not a 58105 FW14  ...

It's an 58069 FW11 :)

It's not all good news, but I post later - I did have all the details typed out but I lost the post :silly:

... and the decals ... and the rear wing mount ... and the ears on the side pods ;)

That's a bit much to ask from that picture, but okay. :side:
The front setup should have been an obvious giveaway though...

My helmet is peeling and crusty

I did think it was just these two that needed replacing, but TBH all the decals are are peeling and/or wrinkled ...

Paint is a bit thin, but as it looks ok from the other side, I'll either leave it or just put another coat or two on ...

Underside looks barely used ...

... but the muck on the shock & gears really don't add up:

Acoms AS-11 servo & AR-227FE make sense (part of an Acoms Techniplus mk.V set, circa 1989) ...

But the motor doesn't - that's a much, much later one :(
