Hi all,
Back in business..with a Mountaineer of course !
I hadn't had time lately due to work commitments but now I'm back !
It's been a while since this mounty is sitting on my shelf partially disassembled.

I decided to start with the body, as it's the worst part of it. As I started unpacking it and having a closer look at it I knew that there was a lot of job to do on the body.

This is how it arrived :

The next step was to take the body apart and start removing the paint.

Removing the paint with brake fluid after exposure to direct sunlight:







Removing the paint revealed all the cracks and broken parts :
Rear Bed:

I had to think about how to fix the rear cab holders...
They're completely broken





The easiest solution was to cut those "holders" from an old rear bed I had. Well, let's do it



And cutted them with a Dremel



Those are the parts finally cutted:

I glued the holders...



And then filled them





After a good sanding

Well, there is still lot's to do on the rear bed.
The part where the license plate comes on is also missing / broken





Once I repaired all the broken parts, I expect a lot of sanding time due the poor plastic state. I think the paint layers attacked the plastic itself and I hope that i'll get the surface as smooth as possible.

In the meantime I started to work on the front cab, I decided to put the rear bed by side for a while...just to brake up the routine

This is how the front cab came out of the brakefluid bath

The holes to fix the rear bed are also broken on the front cab! It looks like this one has been abused or used to made jumps!



My first attempt to repair that part was to put a small piece of styrene and try to give it the right shape.



But after I glued and filled the bit of styrene it appeared that it won't hold properly. So i had to think about another solution.
Like for the rear bed I used parts from an old body I had left, I decided to do the same for the front part.

So I dremeled the part I needed from the old body







And then did the same with the other front cab



I glued the part and once it dried off I started to fill it

And then it time for sanding and final adjustments:
