Update time!
So I've stripped the car down ready for a big clean - here's pics of the process... Before: Old shocks: yep, that is a piece of garden hose on there! Old receiver - still works as far as I know! First broken piece - not entirely sure what it is called - doesn't seem to be named in the instruction manual Second broken bit - cracked chassis - hoping I can glue this up Doh! another broken bit - luckily I don't think it's too bad, might just refit it and hope for the best... All boxed up and awaiting another free evening! Question time! Any suggestions on glue to use on the chassis crack? I have some model cement, or should I try something stronger? The broken front hub carrier - is it worth trying to hunt down an original piece - or is there any aftermarket stuff that will work? I have seen these on AliExpress, but I'm not sure if they will fit? bit.ly/2yJOwcr |

For the glue you can find the black one to repair 1/1 car headlights. It is like araldite but for plastic. And look on ebay for madcap spares. Maybe king cab and toyota hilux monster racer.

Clean!
Front close up Rear close up More broken bits Still yet to tackle the gearbox strip down... New shocks arrived - just some cheap oil filled jobbies from AliExpress- but they've got to be an improvement on the original ones... Now I just need to find some replacement parts, and await the arrival of my bearings before I can start the reassembly process. Can anyone tell me if this ESC will work with the original gear? Nice work.
This ESC works fine with the stock motor. It is sold with Tamiya kits + 1 540 silvercan. |

So I just finished my restoration, well not so much restoration as upgrade of the Madcap, I put a brushless engine in it replaced all bushings with bearings and lowered the suspensions, placed 1/8 wheels on the back. Only thing I want to do now is change the front wheels and also place a body on it.
I was thinking of either a Camaro or Grave digger body any ideas? Also the font wheels are a real issue, I can not seem to find any road wheels that will fit, can anyone help? |
