Hi, my first build post about to start.
Although this is for now more of a place holder. But once posted, there’s no going back.
I thought I’d be lucky to end up with one Cheetah, but fingers crossed this will end up with 2.
Okay so In the pictures 2 bodies, in reality it’s more like one.
And 2 chassis, plus an assortment of bits off the bodies.
More soon,
Al

So this is how Cheetah 1 arrived. The body was completely silver ( nice ).
Once I started letting the Graffiti remover work it's magic a rather interesting stripped effect appeared.
That's all of the body as well, so I'm missing a roof, the roll bar piece and one side pillar is missing. Oh and no wind screen.

On the plus side this buy did come with most of an XR311 body shell. Far more complete than this Cheetah.
The XR311's got it's own build thread.

So here's how the chassis arrived. A nice covering of saw dust.
There always seems to be a broken rear upright in every Cheetah / XR311 chassis I've bought while getting enough bits together.

And the chassis stripped down. This wasn't too bad considering it's over 30 years old. No real bodges by the previous owner. Nothing else broken. Plus it came with a load of spares which proved useful.

The tyres are well and truly worn out, hence my excitement when I managed to get 2 new ones recently.

Awesome. That is always fun and pleasant to see a new born with a load of spares.

So after a lot of cleaning, here's how Cheetah body no.1 has turned out.
It's cleaned up okay and it's had a rub down with some wet and dry.
But basically this is being put to one side until I can come up with a suitably cunning plan to fill in the blanks of the parts that are missing.
I have got a lot of the little bits, rear lights wing mirrors, even the medical kit that sticks inside the body. I'll put up a pic at some point when I've got all those bits together.
So in essence I've got the details, I just need to make the main body in some way.

So with the body to one side, it's the relatively easy bit of cleaning and polishing up the chassis, metal and plastic bits.
I quite like the amount of metal on this kit, the early kits are good in that respect.

The tyres got a clean but aren't going to end up on the finished car.

Okay so time to put the chassis back together.
Although the body is a whole different challenge, this was fairly straight forward.
Everything has had a clean and polish.

And the chassis together.
Sorry no pics of the rear end going together. But luckily everything was there and even the gear box cover was in good shape. I've got a couple of others that are cracked. Either over tightening of the screws or rear end crashes ??

And a shot from below. I think this is where you prove you've got the torsion bars in place.

No plastic protective sheet. I haven't managed to get a single one in any of my buys. Because I need to make up 4 and I thought if I could at least pick up one I could use it as a template.
