Step 37 in the manual.

As mentioned, I made a mistake earlier and it became obvious here.
First image has the mistake, it's corrected on the second.

Steps 38 and 39 mounting wheels.
Always my favourite step. Kind of completes the chassis, with some minor things left.

Rear wheels are easy to get into the tyres, the fronts are worse. Still, only takes some elbow grease.

Mounting hardware:

And all wheels on!

Step 40, the undercowl
A new undercowl and I decided to leave the Velcro off for now.

Cut and sanded on edges:

Step 41, battery holders and rear wing stay.

The sponge tape for the battery holders were long gone so I mounted without any. There will be little rattling in this chassis anyway... :)

After the above picture, while mounting the wing I realised the wing stay (steel bar) was not correct. The stay was slightly bendy in several directions causing the wing to sit crooked. I found a new one in the parts bin and replaced it.

I've decided to keep the repro body and wing on for now. It's very good as it is and I would rather replace it then I can have original body and original decals...

So, this is the end, mounting of body and wing and some posing shots.

All done!

I'm very happy with the result, and so is my wallet.

Thank you, guys!
This TFE is staying with me for the forseeable future, I'll sell it when I have to pay down my mortage...

I got the Tamiya bearings from Japan, and after some fiddling the ball bearing is in place.

I'm in the process of restoring a TFE now. How were you able to determine that you had a reproduction shell? I'd like to check what I have to be sure. I am not an expert like you so I'm sure I could be fooled. I did take a magnet to the screws and confirm that they are titanium (or at least not steel). Is a Dynatech 01R the best period motor to use? I see some of the old advertising shows the 02H.
