Since picking back up on this hobby I’ve wanted one of these. I used to have one BITD and I did it up in all gold. I loved that car for its early Tamiya status and it’s classic yet goofy rally car style. Now I need another one. It all started here with an eBay score.

It was a fine start as it was 90% there and I got it for what I think was a good price

I was able to hang on to just a few parts from my back in the day Audi. Including this bumper bracket. How sweet is that? It’s like it was meant to be.

Here is my complete stash of 58036 parts that I was able to retain. Lucky to have them and the manual.

Unfortunately this Audi is missing a wheelie bar and I have not much luck finding one

As far as wheels go I am short one front tire and rim so for this build I’ll opt for the Honda City Turbo wheels. Here I am fitting in the new bearings

Now I need a body. Team blue groove to the rescue.
Lexan cut and fitted. Now I wait for a roll bar which has been shipped from Germany before I can get the body fitted. Paint and some more parts are on order. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for following my build.

Great to see it coming along so well Joe. I have some Honda city rere wheels and tyres in my shopping basket so I can run my 2nd Audi without wearing the originals out. Mine wont be touched for a while as the other cars are in far worse condition  so I've started on my Lunchbox and going from there.  Good luck with parts, looking forward to seeing the build progress.

That would definitely work,
What about some steel brake pipe, but its easily bent and is about the same diameter. The copper pipe would be too soft I think.

I’ve been practicing making wheelie bars. This wire material holds the batt insulation up in my basement floor joists. Next few I hope I can get correct so my insulation doesn’t fall down.

Ha ha ha... you should try wire coathanger prior dismanteling your house

Another lucky move was somehow saving these steering rods from my BITD Audi. Another it was meant to be as the eBay purchase needed rods
