I use this black double sided tape: www.kenteurope....ength-tape
I have magnets of 10x15 mm. When i want ro remove one from a shell, i almost break a nail. For repairing shells i use Bison Liquid Rubber, also named Bison Rubber Repair. Maybe that's a good option for magnets too, as hot glue comes off when flexing the shell.

I Make support braces out of 1,5mm lexan on my vacuum forming box . I lay my magnets onto the box 20 or so in 4 rows, and then mold them .
when done i cut out the molds with the max possible material around the magnet mold for the body i will use it on. now i glue it in place with shoegoo. the large surface of the molded piece holding the magnet gives u a maximum gluing area and a very strong bond, plus u can remove the magnets when the Body is broken without any residues. |

Wow!
Who made the body mount kit 3 racing or?? That has to be the most over engineered, but cool looking body mount ever! I love it!! We do love our pretty alloy parts don't we It always reminds me of when " tuner cars" started showing up at our race shop back in the late 90's.... lots of "go fast looking parts" my old partner use to say..... From somewhere out in the wilds of central Ontario.
.......you build what you like, I will build what I like........it's all cool...... |

A bit late to the party.
But if you follow GCM Racing on Youtube, they use magnet mounts all the time. They tend to use clear tape over the one fitted to the body, 10-12mm should still be plenty strong enough. I've used magnets on my CC01 project. First I taped the roof and bonnet with one strip of duct tape, then epoxy'd the magnet to the tape. After the epoxy cured I laid a layer over the magnets. This way I can remove it at any point. I can lift it no problem, ready to run. |
