Seems this is becoming a scale garage/painting/hobbyroom/mancave/apartment thread

For a while I have been thinking of how I want to store my vehicles in my new apartment that are coming.
I need to keep it smart as the apartment is a bit smaller than the current one and mancave is going to be half of what I have today.

For the hallway I have been thinking of have a some sort of shelfing that hold the vehicles, but at the same time holding them so they can be mostly seen from every angle even when hanging on top of your head.
Than this popped up on one of the FB sites and eureka! I have found my solution!
Slatwalls it is then!
I plan on adding such wall on top of the wall along the hallway and in the mancave where I need to keep my project cars.

I think I have to make the slatwall myself as the size I want is not sold to the public here in Norway.
The shelves that are holding those are on the other hand coming from US via a friend since those plexy shelfes are not sold outside UK or US.
Maker of the slatwall above used plexi shelves that intend to hold a shoe in a angle with a stopper lip at the end. He used two per car.

That storage shelving looks modern as I want to upgrade to modern looks instead of use whatever old stuff I had before.

I plan to use 12x70mm wood for the wall and PVC for the framing.
My mate likes to carpentry so he may get the task to buld these

Hi Rich bit of a long shot, but it's the stuff they use in shops. You could keep an eye out for any shops being refurbished. Which in the present climate may be sooner rather than later unfortunately.
But might be able to reclaim some.

Finally I got my stack of HIPS sheets, aka styrene.
These was ordered before xmas by a mate of mine in Ireland and he forgot all about it and then got Covid etc and as work commitments increased things go delayed.
But finally they are here and got delivered along with some Capri parts which is another story...

This stack of 1.5mm sheets should last a while...

My new apartment is taking shape.
There is still a lot of things to do, as the complete bathroom, fit the last two mdf sidewalls, paint the walls, fit the flooring and then the kitchen.
And lastly trims at top and bottom of the walls.
But now I can see how the rooms is going to be.

Hallway

And turning left in the hallway neaest the door is the bathroom.

Next room, still at the left is my new hobbyroom.
It is tiny at approx 2.25x2.25 meters and angled roof at the outher wall.
But I'll manage. Need to buy some smart furnitures.
I'm thinking of painting the room light blue as in one of the pictures above in this thread.

And the next room is my bedroom, still on the left side of the hallway.

To the right at the end is my living room.

And to the left, kitchen.

I'm exited for the whole apartment as is is brand new and not something old that will fall apart in some years.
My new landlord is my mate who lives in the house next door.
And under the apartment there is a 100 square meter garage for 4 cars.
Half of the garage is the mancave part that will house his Capri (we met through Capri cars over 20 years ago).
There will be a 2 post lift there later.
I hope I can have my Capri there the first month or so till my Capri is waterproof and can relocate to my parking space on the other side.

I don't know the moving date yet as he is not sure when it will be finished (he works a lot and have a family to attend to).
But my current flat has a 2 month notice period so the date is getting closer where I can tell my current landlord that I'm going to move.

I'm looking forward to have a brand new hobbyroom / mancave / workshop.
I plan on have my nicest rc cars on top of the wall on the right side with help of those acrylic shelves I posted earlier.
On the corner of the citchen / hallway I plan on have one of my cabinets hosting my cars, along with a new one side by side.
The rest of the projects cars will then live in the little hobbyroom.

Currently I'm in the middle of choosing colors of the walls as I'm not fan of all white as it is boring, cold and not forgetting most of my furnitures are white to.
Bedroom, hallway and living room is probably getting a dark grey color, all trims will be white along whit furnitures and the floor will be light grey of some sort.

Looks like you will have a really nice place. Plus you will have somewhere to work on the Capri. I had a green mk1  gxl 3L when I was 18. Can't remember if it was 1973 or 1974 Great cars but I stupidly sold it. It would be worth a fortune now. Thinking back it's probably a good thing. I'd probably have killed myself in it. After that I brought a 1978 mini 1000 and converted it to a 1275gt only problem was stopping so I had to install disc brakes :) Looking forward to seeing the Capri.
Regards

Lee

That would be a 73' then   Unless if you were in US as the Mk1 was also sold as an 74'
73 should have the big tail lights as it is an facelift.
Those 3 litres was fast indeed, not compared by todays standard as most fast ish family cars would smoke them.
But around 8sec to 0-60 was not too shabby.
I have owned two 3 litre cars, the first one was a 79' 3.0S with wide body panels called x-pack. 15" RS wheels, LSD diff.
That one was driven everywhere and even with the 1.5" ground clearance I even managed to drive on forrest roads, over speed bumps.
Also the car I drove most within a year, 36000 miles. Yeah I drove a lot. That was mostly after work miles as I only had 6 miles or so to work.
Second one was a modified Mk2 with x-pack bodykit, 8x13" Allycat wheels, ducktail spoiler and recaro interior swapped from my then scrapped 3.0S.
The first engine was sized when I got it, second one had oil that was clay so it was no good.
Engine number 3 started to knock on my way to our annual Capri meeting.
That was in August and that autumn I was due my army service up north.
On my Christmas vacation I built one enigne out of those 3 in snow storm no less, did a 3 mile test trip and said good enough.
1st of January 1999 I then drove for 25.5 hours and 1140 miles to Bardufoss up north.Nearly the whole way was driven in snow storm, some places had not even been plowed.
My mate that was in the other army place a bit further into the woods from where I was being located, refused to join me for that trip as he expected it do break down, which did not happen.
That engine lasted the whole time I was up there, even strated in -36C after been gone for 3 weeks, which stunned the other people which was in the guard house near by.
6 of 10 army trucks were out of commision due the cold as they would not fire.
That engine lasted the whole time before it got replaced by a tuned 2.8 carb engine that a coworker was selling.
With that engine which must have had 200hp, my Capri with 1600 diff (orginal to the car) and 4 speed manual it did 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.
That was my fastest car and Capri I have owned so far.

Smallest car I've owned was a Escort Mk3 with Recaro seats. I loved that, but the rust killed it as the suspension mounting points started to move.
But was fun with Race Poly bushes.
If you still like Minis, look at Project Binky on Youtube if you have not allready seen it. Really fun projects which involves 4x4, turbo and many brackets

And yes I really look forward to have a place to store my car at home and be able to work on it when my health allows.
Having ME (Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome) makes things hard as some days there is not energy at all, and my day to day capabillities changes from day to day.
But I try to deal with as best as I can. Both RC and Capri stuff gives me pleny of pleasure.
Capri the cat is also a good companion   Speaking of cat, I really hope he will like the new place as well.
