I've finished the painting, I still need to find some "mains cable" & make a plug for it, but it's basically done - I'm quite pleased with how it turned out
Top half is XF-21 Sky (sky? ?), bottom half is a mixture of XF-18 Medium Blue & XF-16 Flat Aluminum. Details are X-11 Chrome Silver, XF-56 Metallic Grey, XF-16 Flat Aluminum, XF-69 NATO Black, X-31 Titanium Gold, X-32 Titanium Silver, X-14 Sky blue, XF-85 Rubber Black, XF-9 Hull Red, X-7 Red and X-28 Park Green. Weathering is strategic use of watered down X-19 Smoke. Decals were hand drawn in Paint Shop Pro, printed on clear transfer paper & sealed with X-22 Clear before being wetted & applied. |

I've been thinking about that for a while, a basic 3-sided (+ base) shed/garage ... it would need to be oversized so I could use it as a photo backdrop - and also be demountable because I don't have anywhere to store something that big. Scale brickwork or blockwork would be nice, but TBH I'm thinking more in terms of scale 8' x 4' sheets of plywood |

Install a pulley system so you can drop a diorama set from the ceiling If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

I've been looking at other people's garage dioramas, the ones that are most successful as scale backdrops (i.e. you can get a photo that shows nothing but car & diorama) are pretty big - twice the length, width & height of the car in them
I'm going to rule out getting a clod in one, the question is whether I do one at Bruiser scale, or "merely" Scorcher scale ... either way it's for the future, but in the meantime I had a go at a bench grinder: Start was to turn down some of my DIY square styrene bar to round ... ... then machine steps & tapers, + make the grinding discs & cover outers: ... then spacers & end caps. I also drilled & tapped the ends of the body, they won't be staying screwed together, but I thought if all the outer bits already had holes in them as an artefact of how I made them, I might as well take advantage of that for alignment purposes: All the bits so far assembled, + thin strips to complete the covers: Starting on the base: Base nearly done ... Buttons & clear covers ... I need to find some shorter screws ... Paint & transfer done, + m2 x 4mm screws |
