Yep, give me some nightly butterflies. And hope the mailman won't bring this :

Edit - even though I don't think that this is the Canarian flying species...
That would be the African roach (called Americana because they were first identified there) which is a lighter brown...
They are also a bit more elongated and are not officially called "giant".
But two inches averagely (without wingspan!) is a pretty big bug in my book.

Martin, don't worry, there's loads of people out there that don't like moths, butterflies, birds etc & I can sort of understand why. I've just got a fascination with big creepy crawlies, the bigger the better! I even had a Trinidad Chevron (Big spider) for a couple of years (Males only live 2-3 years, females can go for 20!). Wasps & ants freak me out, but I've no idea why - I'm fine with bees!?

Waterbok, no unfortunately they won't be ready for halloween. Maybe approaching xmas?

Edou, yes, they're likely to need some room! Not sure about the idea of 15 of them going at it all at once around the living room though. I'd be very surprised if they all hatched anyway

Bwah Mwah, beautiful creature but seriously scary.
Imagine something like that unexpectedly being delivered with your box of bananas!

A friend of mine used to have scorpions but he got too afraid of feeding them... :S

Btw - I spent all high school having Garfield agendas. :silly:

Big spiders are less scary than little ones I think - when you hold them they're warm & furry & have a bit of weight to them, like a mouse, bird or other small animal, & don't feel like a creepy crawly at all.

Having said that, mine had a bit of an attitude & was always going for me - I used to wear leather welding gloves to go near it to feed it! (Used to feed it mice & black crickets). Scariest moment was when it jumped off the bench & I couldn't see where it went, then felt the weight of it on my back....

Don't watch if you don't like spiders.

I'll go ahead and make a separate topic out of this...
I'm sure there's more critters and other animal behaviour that could be interesting to discuss.

Top plan! Yep seen that one - it's not scary until you don't see where it went...

Much more thrilling than Blair Witch. Although slightly similar.

That was always going to end badly - for a start, why wasn't he thinking "we're going to need a bigger bowl" ?

And what was he going to do if he got the spider in there? Hope it co-operated?
