Tamiya Spray-Work decent enough in your experience?
I'd like to do some paintbrushing with it but also clean up a car (if I get to drive again) and not in the least spray clean a desktop computer now and then. Any recommendations very welcome. Still orientating... budget is generally limited. Thanks! |

From what I've seen, the Tamiya compressor (the low end ones anyway) are barely adequate for the most basic of airbrushing, with no adjustabilty & chug along producing the same low volume, low pressure air whether you're using it or not ... My "indoor" compressor is a 1/6HP unit with a 3L tank, one of the unbranded Chinese ones usually sold with a pair of airbrushes - my experience has been that it's great for airbrushing small parts, has to work hard on spraying bigger areas (like RC bodies), and is only capable or airdusting the smallest of components. My "Outdoor" compressor is another generic one, these 24L 1.5/2.5HP "oil free" models are all basically the same apart from colour & branding, mine is a mid blue "Wolf" one, prices vary from sub 80 GBP to 100-150GBP with a kit of attachments, I even saw an Iwata branded one for twice that I haven't tried airbrushing with it, but I'm sure it would be a decent choice with the right adaptors, though it's very loud while filling the tank (so a remote location + long hose or piping needed). It's great for car tyres, decent enough for airdusting (though it's surprising how quick you get through a tank full of air), but it gets a hammering using it to feed my mini blasting cabinet, even at modest pressures & duty cycles. When that one wears out I'll be looking for something around 3HP & 90L/100L (and 300 GBP price tag ) as that seems to be the biggest you can got & it still be somewhat mobile. Examples:

Cheers, Flo. Looks nice but I think I'm gonna need a tank for some of the more serious spray cleaning pressures.
Or maybe I can use my special foot pump and an old tyre for the latter... |

For airbrushing it is enough, but for spraying a real car, it is a little short. I can charge near 9 bar. And it is compact. And heavy. Mine fall 2 times I exploded the manometer (now changed) and it still works well.
