Ok cool! I figured as much about the hex spacers...i took her drifting today and I'm hooked.

Anyways I'm on the third paint job using plasti dip and I have to say so far it's well and beyond anything else for coverage and stick. Nest of all it can be peeled off if you are not happy with the finish.

I did not dawn and bath the Lexus and that was my error.

The key with plasti dip is to do at least 4 to 6 coats and make sure to peel your masks at about 30 mins.

I think it's plasti dip for me from here on in, especially given the extra protection the underside is getting.

Ok so I'm convinced plasti dip is the way to go from here on in. Lexus is dupli colour, alfa tamiya ps, 206 is plasti dip. I'm going to be painting the next shell with car paint again but I'm going to be doing some major prep and trying to find a laquer based paint.

I also find the HPI bodies to be much higher quality than the tamiya shells. Tamiya scratches on everything and is less flexible more prone to crack as opposed to bend.

That's because tamiyas are more detailed with a lot of corners. Hpi ones are thicker to.

Just a little update. I cleaned off the horrible decal job I did and I added some body primer/scrapes to wear the dupli unstuck . Worked out great too because it adds realistic damage to the drift shell. When it gets too far gone ill remask and do an actual primer and proper paint job ala car style.Added the spoiler and some new rims with SOFT drift tires and it's really different control wise , the tires are hard but not shell like like ABS. Softer like a super hard rubber almost but not sticky. Happy with the looks at this point for my drift basher.
