Wild Willy M38 LWB 6 years 8 months ago #45443

Hi
This is my first post.
What brings me is the desire to resurrect my old Wild Willy M38 LWB I built back in the 1980’s.
It has been stored for the past 15 years in my hot/cold attic.
It is in great shape except for the rubber parts. The tires have cracked wide open. From reading here it appears original replacement parts are pretty much unavailable for the WW M38.
I have run it a few times the last few days on these tires using some 7.4v 1200mAh Li-Po batteries. It runs perfectly but the tires are coming apart.
Are replacement tires or tire/rim sets that will replace the originals? Same tread design is not important to me.
Any information about this you can share is appreciated.

Welcome on board. I eard that there were some repro on tamiyaclub but better source is ebay. I saw several sets last month. I think that they are similar to blazing blazer ones. But I am not sure.
PS. Pretty wild willy. :y:

Welcome to TamiyaBase!

Fortunately you're not picky about the tread design so you do have more options than losing an arm and a leg on reproduction tires. The Wild Willy shares tires with the Tamiya Blazing Blazer. Here's some pictures of the Blazer with 1.9 RC4wd Rock Stomper tires.

I know a guy in Nederland used them on his vintage LWB Wild Willy with success. Unfortunately, with the Photobucket ransom I can't get you the pictures. Only these so you can have some notion of how these tires look on the original Wild Willy rims:

Good luck with your vintage Wild Willy Jeep, and don't forget to share some pictures of it when you can :)

Thanks for info. These were very hard for me to find and appear to be $50 for 4 if you can get them. Look good though.
Ran across repro for only $10 more for 4.
Think I will spring for them.

Thank you.
I have just come across these looking for the Rock Stompers.
I will order and hope the rest of the Wild Willy holds up for a while.
