Original 1st post:

Yet another project - sooner or later I will have to stop buying new ones & finish some of the old ones

Firstly, wht I bought this one: it was (mostly) complete, had a box, and what really swung it was a set of uncut, good quality repro decals:

I knew it was a bit ropy otherwise, but not quite how bad ... I wouldn't say there was any active dishonesty on the part of the seller - in fact there was far more text ans far more pictures than the average eBay listing - the chassis is just about as described, but between slightly blurry photos and dust on the bodywork, I hadn't realised quite how much work this was going to need.

The chassis isn't so bad - though it must have been abused badly at some point (in fact I think the trucks history must have been some thing like badly abused, really badly restored, abused some more, sold on, then sold on again) ... rear body mounts are new(ish) but the cross brace is missing, wheels had some stress marks, damage on the edges & the tyres heavily glued on...

Great car there JR!!! I love the BF. Looks like a lot of nasty bodywork to be done there...But since you are a master in body resto JR i am not concerned about how great i will look when finished :) .
Also nice to have a good set of decal sheet since they are rare nowadays!

Great looking runner, think looks pretty good for it age and that it has been used for what it was intended to be, a real RC (Running Car)

to bad the BF bodies are a bit sensitiv on full front impacts :pinch:

I think this abused Blackfoot has pretty good karma, ending up in Jonny's hands. ;)

Hi JR,

Nice BF you got there...Well it seems that there a lot bodywork to do in order to get it in a good shape. Anyway i'd say nothing impossible to achieve, specially knowing your restore skills !

Jonny Retro wrote: The truck must have spent a lot of time grinding along on its roof, both outside edges are badly ground & the gutters have completely gone ...

Well, the "gutters" seem to be the major problem on those BalckFoots, i had the same problem on mine while restoring it. With lot's of sanding and polyurethane 2 components will get it right. At least you got a nice sheet of decals there...wich it took me lot's of time and money to get.
Looking forward to see your resto thread and the end result.
If you should need any parts for it, just let me know. (unfortunately i don't have the windows :( )

Thanks Manotas - I just re-read your restore thread - nice work :y:

I appreciate the offer of parts - but thinking about it, I have a Monster Beetle that I don't really want to keep (& no-one wanted to buy :( ) - after the amount of time, effort & money I spent on that chassis, I know it's sound ... with a bit of part swapping, I should end up with a decent car & a big pile of junk, I mean spares

:)

I had the chance to find a new body for ky bf just the light bar was missing. I put my midnight one on. And I bought a poor blue repro decals sheet

I've stripped the paint off (using UK recipe De-Solv-It Graffiti Remover, as usual) ... I really don't know what the paint was, it didn't want to come off & went tarry, wiping that off & retreating left something like very dense latex that had to be rubbed off  Still lots of scraping & sanding to do ...
