Some progress...
To recap: Back in the 80's I attempted to improve the performance of my Scorcher by "lightening" the gearbox (read chopping great lumps off it). So now I had a choice - replace the gearbox entirely or live with it. As my other SRB restoration will be more original, I deceided to keep with the spirit of this one and keep the cut gearbox. The problem was that one of the rear cage mounting lugs had broken off and I wanted to use a SRB rear cage I've got. Solution: I have various MK I SRB gear cases in various states of disrepair, so I found one with the bumper lug intact, but had already been attacked with a hacksaw, so I didn't feel too bad about cutting it up further. The result: Note: It is only the left hand side (motor side) that I have cut, the right hand side is my original one. The "new" case had been cut by a previous owner at the front for some reason: |

My original chassis plate was also looking a bit like a swiss cheese following my botched teenage attemts at fitting different suspension.
I had a spare chassis plate in my spares that had been cut, but the front was in good condition, so... Epoxy (temporary screws to hold it in position) I carefully re-drilled the holes for the Apache front end. Mock up: Since the Apache suspension is black, I decided to paint the ally parts and chassis black to match (and cover up the "repairs"). I have since done this with U-Pol Acid Etch primer and Halfords Satin Black. |

very nice,
Small question; where are the rear tires from? I have the same on my hornet. I have a doubt about the origin |
