Another option - may I present the world's least capable scaler: <img>
Technically it's a Frog with Pajero wheelie wheels, but you get the idea ...

Technically, a Frog is Pajero wheelie wheels is a Brat

Seems like the decals were attached pretty firmly to the paint, but the paint was not attached very well to the body...

LOL  ... but don't knock it - much less work for you ;)

...
The Sand Scorcher body, on the other hand, has been painted with Hammerite :pinch:
...

I think it's in the nature of Scorcher shells - the last one I did took about 8 hours & multiple applications  It looks like it's working though - so keep agitating it - Tesco value toothbrushes are great for scrubbing - then rinsing off & applying fresh stuff. :y:

BTW blue nitrile gloves seem to work the best for stopping it getting through to your skin, but they do get attacked by it & don't last that long.

Getting better...

I had forgotten how many colours there were on the Scorcher
It was originally box art blue and white, but there is red, yellow, silver, black, green and hammerite black (about 1/2 inch thick in places). I can't even remember the yellow paintjob :S
I have evidently "smoothed" out a lot of the details on the body with car body filler and removed the B posts in an attempt at customisation. I think "Mad Max" may be the only way to go on this shell

I think I have found a solution to the question of a suitable, pick-up style bashing shell for the Brat, and also a transmitter

Also, wheels and tyres for my Sand Scorcher, maybe some servos, a battery......

You bought it did you? I was considering it, but had that box of 2x donkey-shots instead for some bizarre reason...

The Hornet turned up today. It's in pretty much the condition I expected, i.e. ropey
Interesting gearbox repair

Parts I'll be using on the Brat are: transmitter, bodyshell, battery, servo saver, steering arms and pinion cover (fits the Brat :woohoo: )
Other items I'm keeping are: motor, wheels, tyres and servos.
MSC is bin fodder.

I'll probably dismantle the gearbox and see if there are ballraces inside and I'll keep the front axle blocks as I might try to fit them to my Cobra to give 5mm front axles.

If anyone is interested in anything else, let me know. The chassis tub has a couple of cracks, but the underside is not too badly scored. Gearcase is cracked on one side (hence the "repair").

I may need some advice on repairing Lexan bodyshells

TBH I don't think there's a lot you can do ... my usual "repair" is total replacement :(

As it's a "basher" shell though, I assume you don't need it to look perfect - so there are some things you can do ...

Cracks/Splits: find the end of the crack & drill/file a small hole - this will stop the crack spreading. Reinforce the inside - I've used Tamiya Reinforced Tape , but I've seen Plasterboard Tape and Shoo Goo used ... the advantage of that is that it can be used as a "filler" too, if you used regular tape temporarily on the outside.

You can also repaint - clean & rub down the outside, then spray - Tamiya PS paints seem to stick best in this scenario - though they will come out with a satin finish. Make your own windows from self adhesive vinyl sheet, put on a few new stickers & it can look fairly tidy :)

TBH it doesn't look that bad (for a "basher" shell). Just a couple of cracks on the front corners and some flaking paint. I was just going to touch up the paint and put some gaffa tape on the inside.

Can you still get PC paint in pots for brush painting? This suggests not. Shame one of those pots isn't white :(

The red colour on the roof is a sticker, so I peeled that off, which looks much better.

P.S. Gearbox was ballraced :y:

P.P.S. How did you get the links to appear in bold?

P.P.P.S. Sussed it B)

Spooky - I would have said that the seller was just plain wrong, but there seems to be very little in the way of the PC brush paints on eBay

I didn't bother looking anywhere else BTW, from past experience any other site saying a particular paint in stock is usually not to be trusted, too many times I've ordered paint only to have some of it arrive, retailers then point at their terms and conditions saying they can just refund if it turns out to be out of stock

Tamiyausa.com doesn't list polycarbonate brush paints, maybe they have been discontinued after all

Is that a Hilux Monster Racer body? - like the Kingcab, not many survived. I've not looked at prices on them, but could it be worth re-selling the shell as vintage to fund a new lexan Brat body (Which often come up relatively cheap) - might save some effort & despair?
