Or maybe not, when I look twice.
That bearing probably has a star next to it because it only goes on when the diffs are in the gearbox. Looks like the "straightened" parts are less likely to break, having no points of concentrated strain there... Edit - I think it's an enhanced (evolved) design. The joints that came with my new ball diffs are also missing the extra ridge. That would be a contrary conclusion though since one would expect the Evo part to have the evolved characteristics.

Aha, the different shape of the pressure plate cap!
Don't quite see the purpose yet... Another edit - but I'm momentarily not having my brightest moments. Think extreme allergies also killed some brain cells. |

no, only one bearing fits on either side but it stays in place because of the ridge.
these drive cups only come with these aluminium diff plates as far as I know, had a look at my other DF01s and the 'normal' ball diffs all hat the diff cup with the 'straight' axle. second thingie, the cups are also a little shorter (approx 2mm) on the evo. Can someone compare the ball diff cups with a df01 (steel ball diff) that came before the evo, I am not sure if my df01 are releases that came after the Evo. |

One can only be sure if in posession of a completely original 58100 TF I think...
Btw - even though the Evo parts are ridged, there'll never be enough stress on that particular spot to make them break. And I guess the different (thicker?) pressure plate cap can make the whole setup more stable. The shorter diff cups could allow for more ride height? Many interesting details of which I had no clue before... |

Really gotta get me some PS-23. Gun metal!
I think the Manta Ray shell would look awesome in that colour. Aluminium tape for the wing maybe? And spray over that once more... I do the loose decals with a (safety) pin and some CA. |
