I recently bought a rough rider original off eBay and was wondering about the steering, mine seems to be set up differently to the traditional way, was this stock? Or mabye a rarer car? Thanks

It's not stock and it's definitely not "rare" ... I'd hesitate to call it a lash up, but even being charitable I think it's a "basic recommissioning", possibly done before the releases ... modern servo, modified Kamtech vacformed radio box, Tamiya servo saver, generic balljoints & poor quality screws, not sure where the servo mount blocks are from (they look a bit like Super Champ Ones, but they were pot metal on that car, yours look plastic), spacers to get them in approximately the right place ....

Expensive to put right with original parts - but it's a valid enough "upgrade" if you can tidy it up a bit :)

Got rid of that kamtech crap, beginning to restore it with original parts, ordered the steering arms and other parts, it's getting there!

Looking good. Kind of like classic cars, often time mods were done when the cars weren't such a big deal. Now we look back and sometimes just shake our heads. :)
