Time-wise, where does the Leo fit in with the first 100 car models?
The first one I saw (& played with) was around 1982 - one of my parents friends used to work for Airfix, & very often got his hands on "other manufacturer's" models (I suppose so Airfix could get some idea of what their competitors were doing, & maybe match it?). He also owned the first XR311 I saw. Really must dust of my tank & go chase the cat a bit...

Looks like they came out with the first vintage cars. Maybe even a bit sooner...
The 1977 catalogue already shows the 56001. Strangely enough the date on the manual of the 56003 says 1987. But I'm sure the first two are from the same era. |

Cool, but I prefer the Flakpanzer Gepard, a bit more quirky...

What are the 56001 & 56003? I remember 2 tanks being showed in early build manuals & one of the early 80s catalogues we used to have, & one of them was always the Flak. I think it's a bit odd that the XR311 & Cheetah don't have the 56xxx numbers, being military vehicles.
I did have a 1/32 motorized Tamiya tank back in the 80s, but can't remember which one & haven't been able to find the loft-box it was in (Guess the builders had it cos my old planes are missing too). Found my Zoids, Stompers & Matchbox 4x4 Rough Riders though, woohoo! (I foresee some playing in the front room!)

Thanks! I noticed one manual (56003) had the year 1987 on it, like I mentioned earlier.
Must be a "rerelease" of sorts because the duplicate I have seems to be much more vintage. So I'll upload that one... |
