After cleaning all of the parts, I bagged everything up neatly and put them in the box. I was then thinking of shelving this project and concentrating on some of the many older ones still waiting to be finished.
Any how I decided to ignore that and get building !!!

Following the manual.
Yes I will be installing 24 bearings in this.

Diffs to be rebuilt.

I cleaned up the very mucky motor pinion, it came up alright.

I’ve also decided to put in the MSC. It would have been in the kit, so I’m fitting it for now.

At this point I’ve discovered another missing piece, actually two. As I want it back to 100% as it would have been, I’ve had to buy another parts tree just for one piece and also a motor plate.
I’m just waiting on all the different orders now to be able to finish the chassis.

You mean the motor papar gasket?
It is missing in most of my cars and are not strickly needed.
It just keeps dirt from enter via the screw holes from the other side and it acts as heat shield for the plastic.

Cleaned up really good it seems

Cheers Richard, that’s the same information I’d read about the motor plates. It’s a new one on me, but for the sake of a couple of pounds I don’t mind buying one. Just this once !!!!!

I’m definitely not going down that route.

The spare screws box came to the rescue this morning, I needed 4 of these 3x10 step screws.

I think this is the chassis as complete as possible. I’m trying to sort out the wheels now, they’ve got some paint on them that wouldn’t budge with the usual paint remover. So I’ve sanded them lightly and I’m attempting to paint them. I want them back to white.

I can highly recomend changing the boots on the bulleet connectors to make them more fresh looking.
Partnumber is 50245.
I did change mine on the Wild Willy 2 msc I recently installed..

Other than that the chassis cleaned up very well

Thanks for the feedback Richard, I’ll see if I’ve got any spares.

Bearing in mind that the wheels looked like this once I’d removed the tyres.

This is the wheels after I’d glued back all the bits that broke off, plus a bit of filler in a couple of small gaps then a couple of coats of primer, which I think has really brought out the glaring imperfections.

And this is the wheels after a bit of sanding to try to even out the imperfections and with a first coat of white, the final colour for the wheels. I’ve followed Johnny’s lead here and used VW Alpine White which isn’t as glaring. I’d like the car to look quite real when I’ve finished, that’s the aim at least.
