After a bit of pottering on eBay last week I saw someone selling some Toyota 3 speed rims but with some alternative tyres fitted.
I think these tyres come with a few different models.
I needed some tyres for a HiLux build, but didn’t want to pay silly money for some slightly tired originals and the guy in Hong Kong making the rather excellent repro’s has gone very quiet. I did see a comment on a forum saying Tamiya had shut him down, I really hope not, because if they aren’t going to supply the vintage market don’t stop someone who is !!!
Any how, I got these from TTP, the usual brilliant service. The tyres do fit the rims, but the tyres do need a foam insert to help fill out the tyre on the rim.
2 tyres done, 2 to go I just need to find some more foam.
I think these look great, size and even the tread pattern do match the originals.
I’m very happy with these. Bizarrely I’d been using some Blazing Blazer tyres on this and now they are in the spares bin, that’s just weird !!! Especially after seeing someone trying to sell a nice set of repro’s on eBay for £300. ( now £200, still over priced in my opinion, but I don’t blame them for trying ).
Cheers and well on my way to my third Hilux, but not 100% original.
That will make one original and  2 alternatives. Plus a Blazing Blazer. 🤦

Finally finished the Hotshot II - not sure why I took so much time off from builds.

Anyway, here's some pics of the different wheel options I put together. I feel like the Hotshot II with silver wheels is kinda like the Hotshot with gold wheels - It just should have come that way! I also really like the other option wheels which will make great runner sets for several models:

Today I did my A110 M-06 first run. It is difficult to go straight stably.
But it's an interesting chassis with a beautiful body :)

Try to put super soft slick tires with soft sponges on rear train . I have this configuration on my m02 Abarth 1000 tcr berlina corsa. (Box config).
and it was easy to run . The abarth and the berlinette have the same wheelebase.

Replacing the stock friction dampers with oil dampers makes a huge difference.
