Super Champ to return as "Fighting Buggy" 9 years 8 months ago #30168

Hey guys long time no hear from......
I haven't been on here in ages.
But here we go again.....
I saw the Tamiya 'fighting buggy' news on their list[no pics yet BTW at that time]?
I was like- okay what now......?
I'm thinking along these lines;
Tamiya brings out a re-re Sonic Fighter, puts a WILD WILLY figure with NINJA garb in it- some new style BRUCE LEE dude and calls it a FIGHTER Buggy?!
It could happen!
Tamiya has made some real R/C junk as of late; R/C farm tractors!?
USA farm kids from Iowa have got to be loving these!? :woohoo:

BUT NO, I see the SUPER CHAMP!!
The usual items have changed, but its looking good!
NOW all you ''ebay sellers'' can start the Super Champ FIRE SALE!
NO more $100 for just an old beater Super Champ rear pod!
I still see some clowns on ebay wanting insane cash for old beat on junk!
Towerhobbies USA has their selling price at $455usd and late Oct. for stocking it!
I thought IF Tamiya ever re-re'd the SChamp the kit would be pricey but.....wow its costing some coin!

I still have parts to one I raced wayy back in the golden days.
I'll wait and just buy the re-new few parts I'm missing from mine and love it.
I did have a JG type of USA made alloy full roll cage on it.
I sold it and some other NIP JG and real-deal old school CRP cages online years ago for crazy cash.
RCH and HOT TRICK had some awesome parts for the SRB buggies in 1981-82 aswell.
I could start remaking the full alloy cages if there is some interest?
I still have some pics and sketches from what was run back in the days.

The RANCH PIT STOP before the Losi bunch became 'Team Losi' made some real crazy trick WORKS items for the Super Champ.
Then BOOM the ''COX'' Kyosho Scorpion came out in 83' and the Losi gang made killer trick parts for them.
I got beat a few times by the local Scorpion's.
Kyosho has re-done this buggy aswell- Scorpion 2014.
My local shop has several.
My childhood buddy is building a huge R/C car world -multiple-tracks now.
We have a huge HPI 1/5th scale gas buggy track now. Three r/c crawler tracks also.
I'm thinking a vintage r/c weekend/track has to be on the schedule?
Vintage Tamiya classes, Scorpions, and then team big A RC10's and Losi buggies only classes?
I still have my 1984 Edinger A-stamp RC10 with foam carpet rears from some of my last 'in the local shopping mall' races.

Some last thoughts on my part.....
Thanks Tamiya for the third wheel in the SRB bunch[yeh no F150 Ford yet]. :y:
Tamiya lets see the Willy's wheeler Honda city turbo re-re[kit #39]!
I love the re-re ideas; buy it today and play with it.
Race it, and relive the past when you were a kid.
Its a r/c car, not a zillion $$$$ painting in a museuem.
Please Tamiya no more funky looking r/c tractors or VW hippy buses!

And to all the Tamiya collector-price gougers online, get over yourselves!
Theres ''maybe'' never going to be re-re's of the B2B sidecar, some F1/F2 kits, the CanAm Lola or Lemans 936/ C100 type racers. Thats it!
Tamiya kept all of their molds of the past[Super Champ proves this].
If a kit was a okay seller during its 1st issue, chances are Tamiya will re-re it in the near future.
Move onto AYK or some other defunct company of the past and leave the Tamiya market alone! BYE!
You might think your NIB whatever is worth a zillion $$$$, but its soon to be worth $45 on ebay!

R/C tamiya Honda turbo Wheelers are awesome.
The REAL Honda city turbos were sooo cool.
I'd love to of been blasting one around the streets of Japan back in the days!
I'd be wishing I was Ayrton Senna burning thru the gears....scaring old ladies walking down the street!

The billyfarmer?????
I just don't get the idea?
Leave the toy cars to Walmart or the Chinese.

not yet, WE all wish!
No reissue Tamiya Honda turbo wheeler yet.........
Come on LARS you need to call up Tamiya HQ and complain until we all get a Willy's Honda wheeler!! :y:

I know of a guy who tried to use the willy2 chassis' and mounted a Willy's Honda body[kit#39] onto it.
I think you can see some of these conversions on youtube?
I thought about it, but I'll wait for the real re-re from Tamiya.

I've had a few Tamiya Honda willy city turbo cars in the past.
But the old 1980's chassis just doesn't run like the new issue willy2 [WR02 I think its called?] does with street tires.
I have a willy2 with bearings and a 540-sport tuned motor now.
I put a killer old school trinity brushed-motor in it and street tires....the thing was a rocket!
That as a baseline[hot brush motor, bearings, ect] would make any re-re Tamiya Honda wheeler rock!
BTW, brushless is just TOO much for these!
gotta run
