It's been a while since I've posted my work here... I've been quite busy with my truck project and in the meantime I've needed a break.
So I started with the Boomerang, which had been waiting for a long time on my shelf of models awaiting restoration...., and has been growing ever since.

Initially, I had little interest in this model or didn't consider it a priority for my collection. One day, this model appeared on a local ad site for an excellent price.
The thing that kept me contacting the seller was the fact that it was fitted with a Technigold motor.
So I contacted the seller and we closed the deal.
Shipping cost almost a third of the advertised price...

Here it is how i got it:

After removing the dust, I started looking at the parts needed for a complete restoration.

-Original motor (with white end cap)
-Complete bodyset (although not in bad condition, the color is not box art)
-Rims
-Tires
-Front bumper
-Some screws and nuts

Luckily, nothing else showed up as broken or overly worn when disassembled for thorough cleaning.

he search for parts began as I dismantled the Boomerang completely. (Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos).

I found a new body set on ebay in Italy for twice the price of the model.

I also found a complete set of rims and tires

And the last item I was missing was the front bumper. For this, the easy solution would have been to order a re-re bumper...but I just didn't feel like it, as the new parts have different markings.
It wouldn't have been good for my conscience, because when I go for a restoration, I want it to be absolutely 100% vintage.
I finally found one in Hong Kong, but the seller was asking far too high a price, and despite a few exchanges of emails, he wouldn't discuss the price. So I gave up because I wasn't prepared to pay 1.5 the price of the model for the bumper.

So I started the reassembly without the front bumper.
Luckily, Cheerbair posted some vintage parts and I finally found the part I was missing.

Unfortunately I don't have as many photos as I'd like, so many of the steps can't be shown...
Nevertheless, here are a few:

I cleaned the MSC and then installed it with a servo.

I know I skipped a lot of steps, but here's the finished chassis.

In the meantime, I've started painting the bodyset

The next step is to fit the decals and install the new rims and tires.
But before installing the tires, I'll also paint the letters on the tires.

More to follow soon.

Thanks for looking
Manotas

He she is as purchased - also came with a Technigold. I want to go full box art as well, but really like this black and gold set up as well. I just recently scored an MSC cover, so happy about that. I'll start my own resto thread when I get to this model, but there's a long line!
