heatshrink tube protection 12 years 7 months ago #3045

maybe a repost but covering things with heatshrink tubing is a good, cheap way to protect things like bumpers etc. i have used it on the side bumpers on my grasshopper. either paint them first then use clear heat shrink or it is available in a variety of colours.
when it gets scuffed or battered, simply cut it off and replace.
much more durable and chip proof than paint, and saves having to resand and repaint.
obviously there are limitations as to where you can use it, the grasshopper front bumper is a bit to complicated to get the heat shrink to fit and look nice, but any vulnerable parts that are coloured and you can get heat shrink on is a good saver.

i did my rear shocks as well, easier than painting and far more durable.
if they get scuffed or scratched, simply cut it off and re do it.

fitting heat shrink tubing to your antenna tube is a good way of colour coding it to the car. dont get it to hot though, but when it is still warm you can bend the antenna tube to the desired angle you want and if you hold it in that shape till it cools, it stays that shape :)
