I thought they didn't match - the 58003 has a grooved rim and the F103 uses (flangeless) foam tyres...

I think I was looking at the wrong F103RS...
The parts number for these tyres is 9805717 btw. :)

OK, bit of an update :::

After spending much of the day researching the Tyrrell P38 i have found the following :

First production kit released 1977 (model 3) as we all know ! then released again in 2000 with the F103 modded chassis, then released again in 2004 as a ready to run XB set and lastly in 2010 it hit store shelves yet again, but this time with the somewhat different body style that campaigned in the 1976 Japan Grand Prix, its also being released again next year, however the whole kit inc wheel and tyres are diffrent this time !

And guest what ???? the only part that is the same on all versions, except nexts years is the wheels and tyres ! so all i need to do now is find a set od 2010 tyres, sound simple yet i cant even find them at this stage LOL.

The flat inner foam type was a option and not in the standard kit, so i am getting there but slow.
Drive it like you stole it !

Pfhew... how awesome would it be if you could produce this kind of info by heart about every model? :silly:
But I'm suspecting Tamiya to have a tendency towards rereleases now...

Edit :

produce this kind of info by heart

Of course nobody would need to - that's what we have TB for! :cheer:
It could be a great addition as a comment :

NICE!
I love the old Tyrrell P34!

I have three old ones, kit box, manual, and two F103 chassis 1977 Monaco GP versions.
One [kit#03]is a MINTY MINT museum perfect built-underglass...
and AUTOGRAPHED by the great USA racing champion MARIO ANDRETTI!

One of the REAL P34's won the USA- LAGUNA SECA historics GP F1 race in 2010.
The NEW version[JAPAN 1976 GP] Tamiya last reissued was around the F104 chassis and had a lexan body.
What do you want to know about the r/c cars?

Yes the rubber tires are the same as on the old kit#03 car.
The wheels are different.
The bodies are the same format, they have 4-holes for the new style body posts.

opps I forgot,
ALL of the OLD Tamiya cars were built around the 6v 5cell nicad sub-C cell flat format.
They also can use the old school hump-style 6-cell 7.2v packs.
if your going to run your old 1978 P34, you will have to find a hump-pack or wire you up a pack.
Tamiya also used to have a RS-540 motor combo hop-up option/plate for these cars to race with the 540 motors.
I have a couple maybe, but I dont want to sell them.
