Mostly meant for scanning my decals and manuals...
The power supply from the 3300C I had for a long time gave up.
This one has a resolution of 1200 dpi (instead of 600) and is about ten times more silent.
Ten bucks on "Marktplaats" and an hour on my bike. Luckily we finally have a bit of summer...

Picture's borrowed. Got no camera anymore either...

:) :cheer:

And I broke it (the lamp) already with cleaning the underside of the glass.

DOH!

Can I recommend an Epson all in one (printer/scanner) unit?

I had an RX420 that served me well for many years, I now have a SX235W. It isn't built half as well, but it only cost 39 GBP, posted ... and the ink cartridges are still very cheap - less than 1 GBP each if you buy "fake" ones in bulk :)

I'll be throwing this one away. And consider it a nice bike ride that cost me 10 bucks.
Took the bulb from the old 3300C to see if I could solder it into the "new" scanner but that snapped in my hands as well.
I had an HP all-in-one before (neighbour gave it to me) that also malfuctioned...
Not the mentioned the HP printer I got a long time back, together with the scanner.
Although I don't think I'll ever buy Hewlett Packard again (cartridges are expensive and power supply or other connections always fail at some point) I will go for another bike ride tomorrow and pick up a free 3300C...
Got a heap of stuff to throw away now.

Thanks for the tip on the Epson. :y:

I can't say I've had much luck with HP printers either - but i got sucked in to buying several in a row, thanks to the cost of the spare cartridges I had -I felt I _had_ to buy another to get the value out of them ... I think I got through 3 printers in less than 4 years

My last Epson lasted 7 years before the paper feed got noisy & a bit unreliable, the printing & scanning bits were still fine :y:

Wow, that is badword. I seem to get sucked into the HP vortex every time too - in my case for no apparent reason.

And consider it a nice bike ride that cost me 10 bucks.

I have the spare power supply and a nice long USB cable now though...
And I forgot to mention the HP laptop earlier that has a rotten connection and won't work anymore.
Trying to see the relativity of it all but I'm really quite annoyed.

Don't think I'll have a career in scanner repair.
The bulb from the all-in-one HP (another option, I realised) broke before I could even take it out...
Man, those things are vulnerable.

So I picked up another (free) scanner this morning.
After a bit of a clean (not on the inside though) and solving the conflict the HP software had with Windows, it works!
I can scan stuff again...
Valuable lesson learned - not to open up these devices anymore.

:)

First scan made...
